Speaking at a technology conference, Hewlett-Packard corporate executive Whitman said she was stunned by the charm of the Chromebook.
"Chromebooks have stunned United States in the breadth of their field. it's not simply education, it's tiny business," she said, in an interview at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & telecommunication Conference in metropolis on Monday.
"It's a broader charm than I originally anticipated or we have a tendency to anticipated that it'd be...it does seem there's  a real life to Chromebook in the tiny to medium-sized business and even in [corporate] enterprise", she said.

Also, associated with these comments -- and what could be interpreted as not-so-good news for Microsoft -- she reemphasized HP's strategy to expand on the far side Windows.
"There are some groups...[who] do not need Windows backward compatibility in their laptop computer," she said. "So I am convinced this multi-OS, multi-architecture, multi-form factor strategy is the right one for United States and we are reaching to follow the market...and try to be the leading provider there on the commercial aspect," she said.
NPD analyst Stephen Baker agrees regarding the fragmentation of the market.
"The fragmenting of the market into multiple OS, processor technologies, brands and channels...is in progress and the success of Chromebooks is precisely because this fragmentation has opened the area for them to find their niche," he said, in response to associate e-mail query.
HP presently sells the Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14, priced at $279 and $299, respectively.
Samsung upped its association with the Chromebook with an announcement of a coming Chromebook pair-up this month of April.
Both 11- and 13-inch versions can sport a Samsung Exynos five Octa chip and the 13-incher can offer, a high-resolution one,920x1,080 display.
