An Initial look at the Starmobile Engage 7+ - 7” Android Tablet with an Aluminum Body

Starmobile recently launched a crop of new smartphones and tablets during its Gold Rush event last November 2013. One of those was the Starmobile Engage 7+. Here is our StarMobile Engage 7+ review just for you. With a price tag of PhP 3690, this is an affordable option for those of you in search of a tablet for your casual use (surfing the Net, gaming, etc.).

I got to purchase this Android tablet last February 16, 2014 from their stall at SM Bacoor. The Engage 7+ comes along with its wall charger, a USB cable for data transfer, a set of headphones, a user’s manual, a warranty card and a memory card reader connector.

Up front is the 7-inch, 600x976 WSVGA screen with IPS display along with the VGA camera.

On the left side of the device are the power/lock button, the volume rocker, a physical back button and a microphone for Skype video calls.

At the other side are the micro USB port for transferring your stuff and the charger port for refilling your device’s battery.

On the top are the microSD card slot (which is quite in an awkward position personally since there aren’t any covers for the slot so your memory card’s tip is slightly sticking out of the device), the 3.5mm headphone jack, and a set of speaker grills.

BENCHMARK SCORES

Antutu :

These scores were after I reinstalled both the Antutu and Quadrant benchmark apps after a slight misbehavior by the system.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I really enjoyed these past 7 days using the Starmobile Engage 7+. Despite some temporary technical issues, this device really delivered. Having an aluminum body gave it a sturdy feel and its RK3168 chipset actually surprised me regardless of being a dual core processor. The Engage 7+ is a great device to have for those looking for their first Android tablet, and being an under 4K PHP tablet, it sure does deliver.
